Another Glimpse

OK, seriously, you have to check out this blog: http://cfhusband.blogspot.com. This family is truly, absolutely amazing. I could go on and on forever about the Lawrenson family, and how they have touched my life so deeply without even knowing them. Ever since I found their blog, I have been addicted, and have kept up with it daily. When you do check it out, please go back to the very beginning of Nate's blog to get the entire story. It's seriously absolutely stunning. If you really want to witness God's hand at work, this is the place to go. I will warn you, however, when you see pictures of their baby, Gwyneth Rose, you will more than likely bawl your eyes out. And, when you see their family together for the first time, you will bawl your eyes out. The blog is so inspirational, and I'm so glad that God led me to them. Nate has definitely made me realize that I need to get myself on better track with the Lord. His post today is something I totally agree and relate to. It always seems as if I'm "happy" with my walk with God until some "crisis" happens. Then, I feel like I need a closer relationship with Him. It's a real shame that it is those "crisis" moments, and only those crisis moments, that give me a kick in the pants. Then, when things get better again, it's back to my normal "slack off on everything because it's all O.K" attitude. Nate and his family have truly inspired me to have a closer walk with God; not only in the crisis times, but also in the good times!! Seriously, thanks, Nate, for being so raw, open, and honest about everything. You really have no clue how much your story has effected so many people's lives!!!

Tragedy

Today was an interesting day! In my small little nutshell of a community we had our first drive by shooting due to gang violence. We've heard little tid bits of information in the last couple of years that it wasn't "if" gangs were going to start infiltrating and taking over our town; it was a matter of "when" it happened. It's not something I thought I would see, nor did I want to see, while I am here. On top of our first major gang activity, a police officer responding to the call was in a head on collision with our High School's principal. She is in critical condition, and her husband is dead. Yup, dead, because some little punk gang banger had to use a gun instead of his head. It's so insanely sad to see. The community is literally in crisis mode because the principal is a well known, well respected person, and she also has no clue that her husband is dead. To top it all off, one of the Fourth graders in my building witnessed the ENTIRE thing (it was her cousin who got shot). She can describe the car to a "T", can tell how many shots went off, how her cousin fell.... it's sickening. And what's even more sickening is that this child acted as if this were just another normal occurrence in her everyday life. Please keep our community and principal and her family in your prayers! It's such a shame. And... guess who is looking for a relocation ASAP!? I'm beginning to have second thoughts of whether this is really the right place to bring up my children.

Not My First Time

This is not my first time writing a blog. I started one, deleted it because I couldn't think of things to post, and then decided that I miss blogging. I'm taking a different approach to this blog, so hopefully it'll be more successful! For some reason, blogging is kinda like therapy for free; which is a totally good thing! We'll see where it leads!
